Headed to Fort Myers for a family vacation? Besides picking a fantastic beach house with all the amenities your family loves, what else should you do? Nobody really wants to run their vacation on a schedule, but with so much to see and do, a loose itinerary could be helpful. So what should be on your must-see list?

Manatee Park: The non-captive refuge Manatee Park is the place to go to see manatees in the wild. Take self-guided tours through the acreage, go kayaking to get close, or spend some time in the extensive butterfly gardens. It’s an excellent place to get into the Florida wilderness. The park is at 10901 State Road 80 – that’s Palm Beach Blvd. in Fort Myers, FL 33905. Call 239-690-5030 for more information about parking and hours of operation.

Zoomer’s Amusement Park: Stop by Zoomer’s Amusement Park and let the kids go crazy! Take a spin on exciting Raptop Go Carts, play Voodoo Island Miniature Golf or ride the Cobra Rollercoaster. Zoomer’s is the place for families – even large groups like family reunions. It’s the perfect place for kids. Their website has detailed directions from I-75, from Naples and from Fort Myers Beach. The address is 17455 Summerlin Road, Fort Myers, FL 33908. Reach them at 239-481-9666.

Imaginarium Science Center: The Imaginarium Science Center has hands-on fun, movies and interesting exhibits for kids and adults. Currently, the focus is on dinosaurs and the exhibits include a 3D dino movie and an interactive fossil dig. There’s also an animal lab that displays animals like the American Alligator and the Madagascar Hissing Cockroach. It’s creepy good! The Imaginarium is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Science Center is located at 2000 Cranford Avenue, Fort Myers, FL 33916.
