There’s deep sea fishing and then there’s the Annual Ancient City Game Fish Challenge! This year the Ancient City Game Fish Association (ACGFA) has issued a fishing challenge scheduled for July 10-12. The challenge has different divisions; the two most popular are in the Kingfish Division, which has a Kingfish Tournament and the Ancient City Game Fish Backwater Challenge.
The launch for the Game Fish Challenge will be the St. Augustine Municipal Marina located at 111 Avenida Menendez, St. Augustine, FL 32084.
To participate in the challenge, fill out a registration form and return it to the ACGFA as soon as possible. The deadline for registration is May 31. A mandatory captain’s meeting will be held on July 10, followed by the Kingfish Challenge July 11-12. Awards will be presented on the final evening, including the first prize of $10,000!
Some of the winning boats from last year’s Annual Ancient City Game Fish Challenge were Reel Quick, Total Chaos, Preventive Maintenance and Crawfish – each delivering fish from 74 to 90 pounds. Who knows what the top entries will weigh in at this year? For more details about weigh-in rules, boat requirements and check-ins, read the official tournament rules.
Entry fee is $300 per boat, but you can save $25 by submitting your registration before May 31. If you love to fish and think you have what it takes to reel in a big one, the Annual Ancient City Game Fish Challenge is where you need to be. This two-day event is SKA sanctioned. Don’t forget: final registration is July 10 at 4 p.m.!
